During the 17th and 18th centuries, cast iron tea pots were placed over an open charcoal fire to keep water warm, which was believed to slowly release iron into the water, providing drinkers with a dietary source. - Always dry the base of your Teapot before use. Always match the base to the hob or heat zone. Gas flames must always be confined to the base area and never allowed to extend up and around the sides of your Teapot. Take care to centre your Tea pot to get the most from your hob. Always allow the Teapot to cool fully before attempting any cleaning or storage. Always wash after each use. Wash in warm water with a soft sponge and mild detergent. Dry thoroughly using a clean, dry cloth or paper towel.
